Why is a Leading Operating Model crucial for #E&C players? To ensure timely and effective project execution, it is imperative to have a strong handle on cost and scope management. These models involve a comprehensive overhaul of structures, processes, workshare, systems, and tools, leading to a shift towards offshoring work to low-cost engineering hubs, outsourcing detailed design work for greater flexibility, and a shift in mindset towards a focus on quality and cost-consciousness. However, the introduction of Leading Operating Model has revolutionized the way E&C projects are executed. In response, E&C companies have resorted to traditional approaches, such as scaling through mergers and acquisitions, to expand their scope and standardize processes for better cost control. Join our very diverse team of talents as we mould the future of our nation, today. The #engineering and #construction industry is facing immense pressure to transfer scope and risk, while also grappling with intense cost constraints. The thing is, having a curve is good, you have way more fine movement in the inner circle of the stick, but can go full 180° by flicking the stick.Įven if you set the curve to linear, almost no game actually uses a true linear curve. this is what almost every shooter with decent stick aiming uses as the standard setting. (they call it "ramp-up" in apex tho)Īnd yeah, that curve up there is basically what CoD and Apex use. I turn acceleration off in the advanced settings of course but the standard settings use slightly acceleration. as does Titanfall if you use the standard settings. but funnily enough CoD has acceleration, like actual acceleration. YOU ARE AGAIN USING THE WORD ACCELERATION. FPS to FPS) with the same framerate might feel day and night. Anyway I hope that sheds some light why some games have aim mechanics that feel like shit, and why switching between two games in the same genre (e.g. Think about how clean and crisp Destiny feels 30fps. Input latency also plays a role, as does a low or inconsistent framerate, but they are small potatoes compared to a bad aim mechanic. Luckily I've moved to PC as I'm sure it's the same team behind the controls. It gave me flashbacks of Halo 5's launch where so many of us had to spend months begging on Reddit and Halo's forums for a fix. I was reading comments last night about how the controls felt a bit off. Each of these games got about 3-4 aim mechanic updates over their lifecycle - they got better, but are still quite bad and still stand out as the two of the worst examples in the industry. They don't only have aim acceleration, but they have acceleration jumps, which means it's not even a curve like you see s a wavy line with steps. The very worst examples of this in the industry are Halo 5 and Rainbow Six Siege (console version). The preferred controller aids these days are aim assist or bullet magnetism, not weird aim acceleration curves. Those days are over, yet developers still cling onto these old concepts for some weird reason, even though industry leading games like BF and COD have largely moved away from them. You can also test out other options and eliminate the ones you don’t like one after the other. This originated from the early days of console when no one was used to playing with dual analogue controls, so they were trying to find all sorts of unique solutions to help ease people into them. However, you can test the Black Ops Aim Assist option since it provides the best experience overall. If you have played Black Ops previously and prefer those over the Modern Warfare games, you can opt for the last option.Īim Assist settings will vary from player to player and will depend on one’s comfort and personal preferences. It kicks in when the shot narrowly misses a target. Focusing aim assist is for players who may be new to analog aiming and is a strong aim slowdown. Meanwhile, precision is a strong aim slowdown that only kicks in when aiming close to targets and is suggested for those who are comfortable and accurate with their shots. The default aim assist is the traditional one that slows down aim near the target and is used in all Modern Warfare games. Players can choose between the four different types of aim assist in MW2 and one’s prior experience with aim assist on the controller will play a vital role in selection. Why, for instance, at the peak of their success, did Reed fire Warhol without the knowledge of the other band members? Why, shortly thereafter, did he announce to the group that Cale was no longer part of the Velvet Underground-and dispatch Morrison to inform Cale of the fact? Too many crucial elements are left unstated for the film to work as an introduction to the band. There’s no sustained attempt at narrative indeed, there is no narration, per se, outside of the remarks of band members, fellow-artists, friends, and family. If one is coming to it Velvets-curious but not Velvets-familiar, then the film could be a somewhat confusing experience. That role would seem to relieve the film of the burden of a coherent narrative it can cater to nostalgia without any obligation to tell a connected story. (Read everything Ellen Willis ever wrote about them, beginning with her piece for Greil Marcus’s anthology “ Stranded: Rock and Roll for a Desert Island.”) If a viewer is steeped in the Velvets’ legend but hungry for the multimedia sights that originally accompanied their sound, then Haynes’s “The Velvet Underground” delivers: it functions almost as online bonus material for all the books and articles and interviews. How, at this very late date, might a documentary filmmaker come in and presume to tell this tale? The Velvet Underground is a storied band in a very literal sense few pioneering rock groups have been written about so well and in so much detail. Most of those who would tune in for the two-hour film already know a lot about the band, with knowledge they’ve cobbled together from print sources. Yet the film’s belated appearance raises questions not just about documentary technique but about audience. Reed is also present, albeit in archival voice-over, to give his side of the story. But Cale gives every impression of being an evenhanded, terrific storyteller and historian. Given that Reed threw Cale out of the band, in September, 1968, after the first two Velvet Underground records, Cale’s prominent talking head might seem to threaten the film’s objectivity. The only founding members with onscreen interviews are John Cale (bass/viola/keyboards) and Maureen (Moe) Tucker (drums). Four of the band’s principals- Lou Reed (guitar/vocals), Sterling Morrison (guitar), Nico (vocals), and Andy Warhol (impresario/genius)-died before the documentary was made. The film’s late arrival does create some unusual narrative challenges. Although the film was long in its coming, the exciting trailer, released in August, and the awareness that the film was directed by Todd Haynes, the virtuoso behind two powerful, quixotic rock-and-roll movies-“Velvet Goldmine” (1998) and “ I’m Not There” (2007)-suggested that the half-century-plus wait may have been worthwhile. More than a half century after the Velvet Underground’s obscure rise and spectacular implosion, one of the most storied American bands of the nineteen-sixties finally has a proper documentary. The stage and orchestra pit were able to be removed in order to transform the auditorium into a massive hall which could accommodate large balls and other festivities.Īlong with the Ballet of Her Majesty's Theatre in London, the Salle Le Peletier played host to the heyday of the romantic ballet, with such Balletmasters as Jules Perrot, Arthur Saint-Léon, Filippo Taglioni, Joseph Mazilier, Jean Coralli, and Paul Taglioni staging many masterworks for the Paris Opera Ballet. On 6 February 1822 gas was used for the first time in order to light the stage effects in Nicolas Isouard's opera Aladin ou La Lampe merveilleuse. The theatre, which was 14,000 square metres in area with a 104 ft. Many of the great grand operas of the 19th century were presented for the first time on its stage, among them: Rossini's Guillaume Tell (1829), Meyerbeer's Robert le Diable (1831), Halévy's La Juive (1835), and Verdi's Don Carlos (1867). Although the theatre was meant to be temporary and was built of wood and plaster, it continued to be used by the Opéra for more than fifty years. The Salle Le Peletier was inaugurated on 16 August 1821 with a mixed-bill that opened with the anthem "Vive Henry VIII", and included the composer Catel's opera Les bayadères and the Ballet Master Gardel's ballet Le Retour de Zéphire. During the construction the opera and ballet companies occupied the Théâtre Favart and the Salle Louvois. Very soon after the death of his nephew in February 1820, the king commissioned the architect François Debret to design a new theatre for the Opéra on the Rue Le Peletier, which was completed one year later. The Salle de la rue de Richelieu had been the principal venue of the Paris Opera since 1794. Today the Fontaine Louvois in the Square Louvois occupies the spot where the chapel would have been built. However, the project to build a chapel was never carried out due to the 1830 revolution. When King Louis XVIII's nephew, Charles Ferdinand, duc de Berry, was fatally stabbed on the night of 13 February 1820 in front of the former theatre of the Paris Opera, the Salle de la rue de Richelieu, the king decided that the theatre would be demolished in order to build a commemorative chapel in its place.
